The Gallagher’s Copse Management Co Ltd (GCMC) is a UK private limited company established in 1988 to hold the title of and manage 2.2 hectares of broadleaf deciduous woodland surrounding and within a small residential estate on the outskirts of Andover, Hampshire.
The GCMC has 56 members and is managed by a number of directors elected from the company members register. All of the directors are unpaid volunteers. The GCMC does not employ any staff directly, all services including accountancy, tree surgery and grounds maintenance is provided by outside contractors.
The GCMC members self-fund all of the work undertaken to maintain the woodland and the common parts of the estate. The GCMC does not receive any external funding from third parties including the local town, borough or county councils.
In 2019 the GCMC decided to utilise an open grassed area to establish a small orchard. To date we have planted apple, crab apple, pear and plum trees. The following year we developed wild-flower beds between each of the trees.
The GCMC directors organise a 2 hour work activity on the first Sunday of each month from 10:00am to 12:00pm. Types of activity are non-technical and can include, spreading of chippings through the wood, ivy clearance from trees, litter picking, shrubbery pruning, tree planting, wild flower bed maintenance etc.
Whatever form of support you provide to the GCMC, whether financial through your membership or by helping out on work mornings we are very grateful for it. Without your help we couldn't achieve our goals.
